    Severe Heatwave Sweeps Across Telangana

Telangana is witnessing extreme summer conditions as temperatures continue to rise sharply across several districts. According to reports, five districts in the state recorded dangerously high temperatures on Monday, with many areas crossing the 45 degrees Celsius mark.

Kotagiri mandal in Nizamabad district recorded the highest temperature at 45.6°C, making it one of the hottest places in the state. Other districts also faced intense heat, including:

    • Bichkunda in Kamareddy district – 45.5°C
    • Adilabad-Booth – 45.4°C
    • Nirmal-Narsapur – 45.2°C
    • Korutla mandal in Jagtial district – 45°C

The scorching temperatures have disrupted normal life, forcing people to remain indoors during peak afternoon hours.

    Heatwave Conditions Continue

The Meteorological Department has warned that heatwave conditions are likely to continue for the next few days. Areas including Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Jagtial, and Mancherial districts are expected to face severe heat conditions on Tuesday as well.

Heatwave situations were reported in Kotagiri, Edappally, Pothangal, Biknoor, Ramareddy, and Pitlam mandals. Officials have advised residents to avoid direct sunlight, stay hydrated, and take necessary precautions while travelling outdoors.

However, there is slight relief in sight. Weather experts predict that light to moderate rainfall may occur in some districts till May 21, which could help reduce temperatures temporarily.

Five People Lose Lives Due to Heat Stroke

The rising temperatures have already turned deadly. Reports confirmed that five people died due to suspected heat stroke in different parts of Telangana on Monday.

    The deceased include:

    • Yellamma (59), a labourer from Suryapet district
    • Elijerla Venkataiah (55) from Nalgonda district
    • Bonakurthi Pentaiah (48) from Kamareddy district
    • Bhukya Balu Nayak (54), a goat herder from Nirmal district
    • Kanaka Lachu (52), an MGNREGA labourer

The tragic incidents highlight the dangerous impact of the ongoing heatwave, especially on outdoor workers and elderly citizens.

    Two-Wheeler Catches Fire in Wanaparthy

In another shocking incident linked to the extreme weather, a two-wheeler caught fire in Wanaparthy town on Monday.

A resident named Srikanth was travelling from Rajiv Chowk to Ambedkar Chowrasta when smoke and flames suddenly emerged from the vehicle. He immediately stopped the bike and jumped to safety. Local residents and traffic police quickly poured water on the vehicle and managed to control the fire before it spread further.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

Authorities Urge Public to Stay Safe

Officials are urging people to take extra precautions during the ongoing heatwave. Citizens are advised to:

    • Drink plenty of water
    • Avoid stepping out during afternoon hours
    • Wear light cotton clothes
    • Use umbrellas or caps while travelling
    • Seek immediate medical help if symptoms of heat stroke appear

With temperatures remaining extremely high, residents across Telangana are hoping for early rainfall and relief from the intense summer heat.
